GUI Architect - Feb 2007 - Current

SNT is the market-leader in distributed and parallel event-based network simulation software with Qualnet as their flagship product. Key products designed:

Scenario Player

  • Lead GUI designer to prototype and design a light 3D interactive application for playing QualNet scenarios in real-time using OGRE 3D
  • Designed and implemented plugin based extensible framework.
  • Designed and implemented the whole user interface using Qt and MyGUI API

Cyber-War game
  • Lead GUI designer to create a multi-player role-playing cyber war game. Cyber war is simulated among a network of computer nodes (players of the game) with each node capable of initiating or defending against cyber attacks.
  • Design a gaming framework that allows a player (or a group) to
    1. Define missions and strategically choose among various attack, defense and recovery mechanisms,
    2. Graphically visualize the cyber state of the network from a player’s view in both 2D and 3D environment and chat with other team players to strategize actions.

Qualnet Architect
  • Re-designed and developed the core graphical framework of Qualnet using Qt and OpenGL. This significantly improves user experience in creating and visualizing complex network simulation scenarios in 2D and 3D environment.
  • Designed and implemented a UI framework that allows a user to easily create the fundamental components such as toolbars, toolsets and tables.

Senior Software Engineer - Nov 2005 - Jan 2007

As a senior member of software engineer team my job was to design and develop next generation networking applications that are intuitive and user friendly. My responsibilities also included identifying key sub-components of the system and assigning them to other members of the team and guiding them during development.
Some key applications developed during my tenure:

  • Data packet analyzer developed using C++, Qt and OpenGL
  • 3D Terrain rendering engine for real-time rendering of urban and rural terrains. The rendering methods adopted were Geo-Mipmapping for rural and Octree for urban terrains.
  • Developed parsers that understand different terrain file formats such as DTED, DEM, XML shapes and 3DS.

As a member of software engineering team my job was to design and develop a 3D Visualization application for a networking software. As part of 3D Visualization I have designed and developed following sub-systems:

  • OpenGL based rendering engine.
  • 3D particle rendering engine specialized in generating and rendering particle effects like storm, snow and rain.
  • Plug-in for 3D Studio Max 5.0 for exporting scene data into a custom file format.
  • OpenGL based toolkit for rendering 3D graphs.
